YOGA FOR EVERYONE

Please come and join us for our November yoga sessions on Thursday evenings at 7 PM via Zoom! This wellness program is sponsored by Charitable organization, Canadian Tamil Medical Association (CTMA). We invite you all to join our wellness program to improve your mind, health, fitness, nutrition, and life skills.

Each week we will talk about new health topics in our yoga sessions.

Week 1 – The role of yoga in the management of diabetes and hypertension.
Week 2 – Mind and body wellness with stress reduction.
Week 3 – Yogic exercises to prevent chronic pain and arthritis.
Week 4 – Current evidence of health and yoga while highlighting the health benefits of yoga and how it helps transform your health.

LET’S TALK ABOUT HEART DISEASE AND STROKE

Join us for an informative session on preventing and managing heart disease and stroke during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr.Jeya Thayaparan is a Geriatrician/Internist at Mackenzie Health with years of experience delivering health awareness presentations for the community. In this webinar, Dr. Thayaparan will be discussing the impact of COVID-19 on heart disease, hypertension and stroke. Dr. Thayaparan will be highlighting common symptoms of heart disease and stroke along with preventative measures that can be taken during the current pandemic.

Move For Kids 2020

CTMA’s Inaugural Virtual Fundraiser, Move For Kids 2020 was held September 25 – October 4, 2020. This campaign was developed to shine light on the importance of Kids’ Health as well as physical activity. Donations will support kids’ health initiatives in the coming year. Stay tuned for updates on CTMA’s plans to improve children’s health.

Move For Kids 2020 registered 74 participants and 19 teams. Over 3500kms were covered over 10 days, through various activities including walking, biking and running. Congratulations to all the participants of CTMA’s inaugural Move-A-Thon event.

MOVE-A-THON-2020

Over the past 25 years, the Canadian Tamil Medical Association (CTMA) has embarked on numerous medical and dental humanitarian projects to affected Tamil communities in Canada and Sri Lanka. The COVID-19 Pandemic has created immense direct and indirect effects on our community. During the Pandemic, CTMA has been championing Health Education/Promotion, Improved Access to Health Services, Food relief efforts in Sri Lanka.
CTMA holds an annual fundraiser gala in the Fall to raise funds for health-related initiatives in our community. CTMA will be launching a virtual fundraiser this year. We will be raising funds to support communities in need who have been affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Show your support by signing up as a participant or pledging those that are taking part in the Move-A-Thon. More details to come.
